Perched high above the M4 and standing proudly in front of the iconic Celtic Manor Resort, ICC Wales is a true jewel within the South Wales landscape.

Since its opening in 2019, this modern venue has hosted countless memorable events, and this festive season is no exception. We were lucky enough to experience its magical Christmas offering, and it exceeded all expectations.

Our day began with ice skating on ICC Wales’ eco-friendly ‘Glice’ rink. Glice is a synthetic surface that offers the smoothness of real ice without the environmental impact - a brilliant innovation that sets ICC Wales apart. The rink was surrounded by stunning illuminated light tunnels and sprinkled with gently falling ‘snow,’ creating an enchanting scene.

Adding to the festive charm were nearby stalls offering a range of hot and cold drinks and gorgeous festive-style street food. The plant-based patatas bravas were a standout - crisp, flavourful, and perfectly spiced. For those with a sweet tooth, my kids highly recommend the chocolate orange hot chocolate. My sons couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was! The combination of skating and the festive food stalls made for a wonderful atmosphere, perfect for families and friends alike.

After working up an appetite on the rink, we made our way to the VIP Lounge. This was the perfect place to relax and soak in the festive cheer. The lounge catered beautifully to vegetarians and vegans, offering a selection of mouth-watering canapés that were both creative and delicious. The kids enjoyed their own range of tasty bites, and their excitement was off the chart when they each received a magical toy. For the grown-ups, a glass of bubbly added a touch of luxury, making the experience feel truly special.

The highlight of the day was "Elf the Musical," and it did not disappoint. From the moment we stepped into the theatre, the atmosphere was magical. Projected snowflakes danced across the walls, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the experience. The kids were mesmerised, and you ccould feel the excitement in the air. Buddy’s journey from the North Pole to New York City was brought to life with dazzling sets, catchy songs, and laugh-out-loud humour that had the whole audience smiling.

One of the most memorable moments was the giant snowball fight that erupted during the show. The children were absolutely thrilled, laughing and cheering as the action unfolded. It was a moment of pure joy that perfectly captured the festive spirit. By the time the curtain fell, everyone in the theatre was grinning ear to ear, full of holiday cheer.
